Wilcox is passionate about its business and its people. No matter whether you work for us permanently or seasonally, we want people who have a winning attitude, heaps of enthusiasm and positivity; people who are energetic and innovative!

crop supervisor Pukekohe
The A S Wilcox Group of companies is involved in the growing, packing and distribution of fresh produce for the domestic and export markets.

Growing activities are based in Pukekohe, Ohakune and the Waikato, with packing and distribution facilities for potatoes, onions and carrots operating from Pukekohe and Rakaia.

We have a permanent, full-time vacancy for a  crop supervisor based in Pukekohe, where we have considerable plantings of potatoes and carrots for the fresh market and onions destined for export to Asia, UK and European markets. This is an important position within our organisation and one which will have significant impact on the success of our growing operation. You will work alongside the Production Manager in supporting production processes and activities, and this role offers opportunities for the right person to develop and expand their capabilities.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working on the land and is seeking a long term career in the horticultural industry. Our strong company values will demand high integrity, confidentiality, reliability, passion and a good sense of humour.

To be successful in this role you will be an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated team player, with good people management and organisational skills.  In particular you will have experience with cultivation and growing practices and an aptitude for machinery – our fleet is modern and well serviced.   A tertiary qualification would be desirable but not essential.

If this sounds like you then we look forward to hearing from you.  A competitive remuneration package including company vehicle and mobile phone will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Please send your letter of application and CV to jan.bott@aswilcox.co.nz. You must be eligible to work in New Zealand to be considered for this role.

seasonal or fixed-term work

harvesting
Our harvesting season begins from mid-October and runs through till approximately the end of March/mid-April each year.
We look for experienced tractor drivers (especially in spraying application) and irrigation workers for our field production in Pukekohe, Matamata and Ohakune from October to March. Please email rosemary@aswilcox.co.nz

Applications are welcome from people for any seasonal work with relevant experience from outside of NZ who have the required working holiday visas. Use this link to help find out more about this:

packhouse
Our packhouses in Pukekohe (North Island) look for extra staff in November each year, to start work around the end of January/mid- February each year for approximately 10 -12 weeks. This work is primarily to grade and pack export onions, and therefore we require graders, packers, floor workers and forkhoist operators for this period.

We can generally source labour from the local area for this work, however if you wish to apply, you can contact us on 09 237 0740 for an application form around the beginning of November. We will  also recruit via Pukekohe Work and Income and a local publication “Franklin County News” in November for applicants for the packhouse work. Please watch for the advertisement if you wish to apply!

IMPORTANT:
From November 1 2010, NZ Immigration and Department of Labour laws mean that employers must obtain proof of entitlement to work in NZ for every employee before employment can commence. This means that anyone seeking employment will have to provide this proof to us:
• For NZ-born people - you will have to provide us with a birth certificate and photo I/D*
• For people born overseas, you will have to provide your passport with the relevant current work permit/visa, OR your citizenship document and photo I/D.

* This proviso applies to people who may have worked for us during the season in the past. To those people, we regret any inconvenience or offense this may cause, and trust you will understand that this is a new law we have no control over.

Permanent work
Because we believe in investing in our people through training and development, we like to hire for the long-haul, and it’s important to us that you are wanting to be in for the long-haul too. People at Wilcox tend to remain in the business for a long time, so we don’t often have vacancies for permanent staff. We do however, like to hear from people who are really keen to work for us. You may have industry knowledge or experience and have heard about us, or you may be a graduate student looking for a career. If you’re keen to persuade us that we really can’t do without you, please email rosemary@aswilcox.co.nz
